Below are my current books, my upcoming publications, and my works-in-progress, including a personal letter to my readers regarding the Devour Family Series; EVEN ANGELS FALL, THE FACE of HEAVEN, and TANGLED SOULS.
Mauro’s books are aimed at Young adult and Women’s fiction and combine a myriad of genres including horror, family saga, suspense, and romance.
She has written one trilogy and one eBook. Her books are typically populated with unusually beautiful people and the supernatural. There is usually a dark/light, good/evil conflict, revolving around a strong female character, who finds herself in a gloomy mansion trying to uncover its darkly kept secrets.
This saga makes real the great dynasty of the Devour Family (pronounced De' Voure) and their eerie link to the haunted Tate Mansion...

I almost feel compelled to begin my strange tale with the saying Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned. But somehow, even that doesn’t seem appropriate, but rather I think of myself more as a fallen angel, once so hopeful, luminous, and bright but now only dark, bitter, full of mistrust and hate...
Beautiful Sabrina Ayers strives to keep her feisty spirit alive though her family is despised and ridiculed by the townspeople. Then Sabrina meets the dashing Richard Tate, and soon follows him to his magnificent, yet grieving estate—and enters the eerie world of the Tate Mansion. But this was no ordinary house for dark secrets lurk in the shadows and a ghostly figure stalks its grounds…
Then Sabrina finds a diary in the gloomy attic, which sends her on a quest to uncover the mystery surrounding a woman's mysterious death. While Sabrina struggles to unlock the past, she discovers that the dismal mansion conceals a horrifying secret that threatens to undermine her happiness and well-being.
With her sanity in question, Sabrina becomes desperate to strip away the wicked lies and sinful deceit that have surrounded the haunted house for years and the shocking truth will change her life forever! |

The storm calmed down and the rain finally ceased as the first light of day rose above the horizon to grace t he earth and shine down upon my damp face. The ominous gray clouds were drifting away as the sun broke free and the sight of a rainbow in the sky touched me with sweet melancholy for the naive and trusting girl I used to be; a girl who was as innocent as a summer breeze, but now she is more like a wild, unpredictable tornado, bringing mass destruction wherever she goes...
Vibrant beauty Sabrina Ayers has found the kind of love she has longed for all her life in the arms of Dylan McGuire, her fantasy man yet she is still haunted by her past. But even with a fresh start, Sabrina is once more ensnared in a frightening labyrinth of dark family curses and hidden passions that threaten to shatter the only real happiness she has ever known.

And time is running out … for only one of them can save her! |

The Darkest Hour is a love triangle of unspeakable passion and horror…It is the terrifying and sensual story of two men, one human and one undead, and the beautiful woman torn between them! This novella was fun to write, and it’s my “nod” to a more romantic version of the classic Bram Stoker’s, Dracula.
“A modern day version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula”
Brooke Vaughn is a beautiful heiress, having a passionate affair with the hot lawyer, Armand Vitalis, yet she is also drawn to her handsome friend, Caleb Taylor.
But her suspicions darken as Armand’s strange ways and mysterious past reveals itself…now her sixth sense is screaming that he posses supernatural powers and possible murderous intentions. Why can they only meet at night, and why does he leave before the sun comes up?
Drawn into the alluring, seductive world of the vampire, she must decide whether to accept Armand’s dark kiss of eternity, or Caleb’s sweet promise of forever.
Because the darkest hour always comes before the dawn… |

Dear Reader,
I thought you might be curious to know how I came up with the Devour Family Saga, my series of thrilling, dark, romantic tales.
The paranormal romance novel adheres to the standard romance genre pattern in some ways, but also breaks away. It doesn't always end with a happy conclusion and is often darker and/or grittier than romance. Nor is it always focused primarily on "love". I do, however, write about people who fall in love under unusual circumstances. Not because I like a traditional happy-ever-after ending—(my readers will know that my endings are sometimes bittersweet)—No, I write about love because I believe that's the strongest human emotion we possess and where humans—and non-humans—show their true nature—and sometimes, their choices don't get them a happy ending, no matter how much they may deserve one.
Under each book cover are the links to the excerpts posted for your reading pleasure.. First about this complex trilogy, which revolve around a heroine named, Sabrina, and a cast of eccentric and lively characters. At the center of the tale is a real haunted house...the Tate Mansion—an enormous home that would be the setting of so many dreadful and inexplicable tragedies in the years ahead. The series blends romance, horror, suspense, and obsession into three macabre tales of desire, disillusion, and danger. It takes the reader on a journey that is frightening, romantic, suspenseful, and poignant with high stakes, emotional outcomes, and intense relationships. These are character-driven stories and the passionate feelings between the characters—and the actions and choices the heroine is forced to make are turned on the brink, and any lapse in judgment on her part will not only lead to the heroine falling off—but leaving hearts torn in two, deep unresolved passions, and emotions left raw, hurt, and bleeding...demanding revenge or resolution.
Most of my stories deal with good vs. evil...the classic, timeless tale, which is the basis for most horror plots, and since gothic, horror, romance, and suspense are wonderful genres, I decided to write a storyline that could entwine them all. The result was my Devour Family Saga: book 1 EVEN ANGELS FALL, book 2 THE FACE OF HEAVEN, book 3 TANGLED SOULS, and be on the look-out for more spellbinding tales of the supernatural, starring ghost hunter, Sabrina Devour in the future!
Since I enjoy writing non-traditional female protagonists, I create interesting characters that can be multifaceted, demonstrating real human emotions, and rich characterizations, showing different aspects of their character. Some of my heroine’s are emotional, imperfect, distinctive, vain, selfish, but still considerate, intelligent, and real yet strong—often still finding themselves, or somewhat weaker and later discovering empowerment. And the hero as someone flawed, but again real, genuine, passionate, and intriguing. Because "real" people have character flaws, it’s what makes us all human, and I believe, it’s those flawed traits that make my characters come to life, although sometimes we, as readers, may not always like what they say or do, or agree with their choices. For example, one of the most richly developed female characters (and one of my favorites!) of literature is Scarlet O'Hara. Selfish, strong-willed, shrewd, and vain, Mitchell wrote a heroine that has the enduring charm for women in her proto-feminism strength. She is "real." She is the type of protagonist—I enjoy writing!
*On a side note: I write for women of all ages, from young adult and up. I think the main reason I write is because I love to do it. I never did for the money. I love creating characters, I love creating suspense, and I love telling stories, my kind of stories. My main ambition is just to be a good storyteller and take my readers on a journey with me. Also, I am also a Christian and that has a huge influence on who I am and my perspective on the world, and therefore what I write. (Though I've been asked more than once, "What's a nice Christian girl like you doing writing about ghosts, angels, demons, and vampires?") I just say, well, real stories about Good vs. Evil have been around a long time, the Bible is full of them! But I'm just writing fiction...
And I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of reading about brooding vampires too! I’m writing one that you can sink your teeth into—a creature so charming, seductive, and attractive, you’ll forgive him for relishing in his nocturnal, blood-sucking lifestyle! Look for this handsome rogue in my new novel, DARKEST HOUR, which is my nod to the horror genre and vampire movies, which I love to watch...who doesn't like a good scare once and awhile?
Well, it's almost August, and I'm counting down to the release of TANGLED SOULS just as anxiously as you are! I can't wait to finally be able to discuss everything that happens in this new book with you.
We're almost there!
